If you follow percussion based music, you have come to know Jim DiSpirito through his work as percussionist for Rusted Root 1993-2001. He played an integral role in developing the band’s unique rhythm-based sound. This led to multi-platinum record sales (including the definitive WHEN I WOKE CD), national & international tours, plus radio and TV appearances (Letterman, VH1, and Conan).

2003 saw the release of Jim’s debut CD "BIG SILENCE", which is quickly becoming a "must have" in your record collection. The cross pollination of pedal steel and Indian drums, the jams, and the ballads all blend to make this one CD sound like a world of music. Check it out HERE

His background as a student of jazz drumming at the Berklee College of Music and his years of studies in ethnomusicology at the University of Pittsburgh served as precursors for the real deal … which was the intensive study of tabla in India with Nishikant Barodekar and the world renowned ZAKIR HUSSAIN.

It’s this classical training and exotic musical spice that makes Jim that "secret ingredient" to any musical project.
